The following excerpts are from articles contained in this first edition:
VIDEO REVIEW by Andrea Eastman - Spiritual Midwifery: It
contains some background info about The Farm, and how they developed
their midwifery services. It goes on to talk about birth as a
spiritual, sexual, life changing event. There are great scenes of
vocalizations, position changes during pushing, massage, mom smooching
with the baby's father, and a 43 year old woman giving birth to a large
baby.

HOT TOPIC: Epidurals - It seems to be the best kept secret that
sometimes after an epidural women have back pain for months and even
years! When I bring it up, I always get several women who say "I
thought I was the only one!". When I asked at 8 weeks postpartum if it
was normal to still be getting electric "zaps" at the epidural site, my
OB called the anesthesiologist (a professor at a prestigious
university) who said "that couldn't be related to the epidural".

SABRINA'S WEB - You need to know where you want to go on the WWW,
so we have URLs (Universal Resource Locators) as addresses to different
locations. (URLs are starting to be called URIs, or Universal Resource
Identifiers) The URL points you to a file at a certain site (the
computer "host" that keeps that information). A "search engine" is a
site which catalogs URLs like a library...
TALK BACK: VACCINATIONS by Jo Wolf, ND - A subject which crosses
every parent's mind is the subject of vaccinations. This is a very
complicated issue and one for which it is very important that a
physician present information on both sides and leave the decision to
the parents.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS: The more I do Childbirth Teaching,
the more I'm convinced that we need to carry the idea of a "good start"
in life beyond unmedicated birth and immediate breastfeeding. A parent
needs to take the commitment to providing an ideal beginning for their
little one into the first weeks and months after the delivery.
